Why #WeNeedBoth

#WeNeedBoth was started by a group of women in January 2018 on the premise that the best way to tackle gender diversity is through collective action. We can’t afford to exclude anyone from discussions about gender advancement.

The case for gender equality is well-known. Many studies have shown that having more women in leadership is strongly correlated with better performance. Yet progress has been far too slow.

We believe in diversity of thought in all discussions, including conversations about gender advancement. Research shows that inclusive teams make better decisions up to 87% of the time*. If we fail to engage all genders (including men), we will miss out on diversity of thought from important stakeholders and changemakers.

This is why we’re asking men to raise their hands to actively listen and engage on discussions about gender. And we’re asking all genders to use invitations to speak on a panel about gender as an opportunity to help ensure diverse perspectives are represented.
